Counters and Statistics
It's a good idea to have either a counter or a statistics tracker on your page(s). You can have one, just on your front page so that you can check you is visiting your site or you can have on for every page on your site, this way you will soon know which is the most popular page.
The difference between a counter and a tracker is that all a counter does is count the number of visitors to a particular page. Where as a tracker can summarize by;
- the number of unique visitors
- the number of return visitors
- the country they came from
- the referrer
- the previous page they visited
- their operating system
- the browser they were using
- their screen resolution
and much more. All of this is very useful information when it comes to re-designing your site, determining which pages are working best for you and where your visitors are coming from.
