The 1999 ASRF Nationals was an outstanding success. Rodders from all over Australia and as far as the US (G'Day Skip), and New Zealand attended the biggest rodding event in Australian history. Well over 1,300 entrants registered with many more rodders just turning up for a day to view the spectacle. Crowds on the Saturday and Sunday were also well over estimates and any previous Nationals. The venue was ideal, the weather cool and exceptionally sunny for just about the whole 4 days.

There were plenty of new rods debuting at the Nationals, plus many rods not seen for years making an appearance. Every style and trend was represented, with the majority of new rods being of very high build and finish quality. Big crowd pleaser was the Go - Whoa, heats on Saturday and Finals on Sunday, demonstrating that these cars not only look good but go damn hard. Crusing was a very big part of the Nats, with many rodders taking the opportunity to cut a few laps and soak up all the atmosphere. Whilst other were happy to sit and watch the endless passing of the coolest street rods in the Southern Hemisphere.

Congratulations go to - the organising committee (Alan Wieland, Dennis Jones, Bryan Kenyon, Peter Raines, Terry Crosbie, Ray Bedson, Mick Heald, Bruce Borlase, Geoff Rea), the Geelong Rodders and all the other clubs and individuals who helped out with events over the 4 days.

The following six pages captures some of the sights and action of the Nats. Look for more stories, photo's and results coming soon.
