Another early start as we had booked a bus trip to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath. Out the door at 7am we only had to walk a couple of streets to get to our pick point. We were then taken to Victoria Station to transfer to our tour bus. We had the biggest double decker and it was full, 78 people. Our tour guide Steve was a typical ppm, did not shut up and full of one liners, but he did know his stuff.
We were the first tour at Windsor Castle which gave us a great opportunity to see the place, nothing like what I expected hilly and spread out. Inside we got to see this huge dolls house and the state rooms which were as amazing as anything we had seen. Lots of suits of armor and rooms dedicated to the guards decorated with hundreds of rifles and swords.
Back on the bus at 11:30, and off to a little pub for lunch, we had a great table in front and with the sun streaming through and a nice breeze enjoyed our hamburgers.
The it was off to Stonehenge about 20 minutes away. Amazing beautiful grassy green paddock with these huge stones out in the middle of nowhere, really strange.
Another hour in the bus and we were in Bath, very, very pretty town. Karen and I did a tour of the Roman Baths while Jude wandered around town and did some shopping. The Baths were excellent and the displays and tour were really well done. We had a little time to half a look around town before it was back on the bus for the trip home.
We were back in Earls Court just after 8pm, so another big day. Bit cooler today 24°, and a bit of wind for the first time in days. |
