Oliver Hines 33 coupe from Charlotte, Michigan, is as much an early custom as a hot rod. The grille was a rare 34 Brewster piece, not a foreign part as incorrectly identified by HR in the August 55 issue. That grille and the on-the-pavement channel required extensive reworking of the front fenders and eliminated the practicality of running boards. The rear fenders were similar to 36 Ford fenders, and the hood featured unusual custom louvers in the front. Under the hood a 250hp overhead Cadillac V-8 was backed by a column-shifted Ford overdrive trans. Hines elegant 33 was displayed at the Ford Motor Company show at Rotunda in Dearborn.
