Last of our buffet breakfasts (and lunches). :-)
We had a couple of hours to have a quick look around town, we went to St. Marks Square and surrounding streets looking for another memory card or stick. We've been very lucky with the weather, we had a couple of drops at the castle yesterday, rain overnight. We bought a phone card 2.50 euro and Jude was able to talk to her Mum clear as a bell. Then it was time to get on the train all our luggage stored in overhead lockers at 11:30am and we were off, bit like the plane, but with the seats facing one another. We reckon the train must be doing at least 150 kph.
The train is really good and the view fantastic, huge mountains on either side shrouded in mist and cloud, it's been wet most of the way.
Sunny and all downhill once we get past Brenner and into Italy. The train is almost like a rollercoaster!
Had a couple of beers in the resteraunt car with Tony and Max, very pleasant.
They've changed the running of the train looks like we are going straight to Santa Lucia now, just have to back track 9 k' s
Very confusing at the station totally different to Munich, people everywhere pushing and yelling. Eventually we got on a train back to Mestre fortunately our hotel is close to the station and after a quick freshen up we found a little place for our first Italian meal. Beds are very hard, room small and shower smaller. |
