Thailand 2013
Day 1 BangkokSaturday 2013/05/04 Peter came over about 10 and we took some tuk tuks to the Top 7 observation deck. I was an amazing view and we were very lucky with how clear the air was. Once back on the ground we headed for some markets across the road and ended up at Platium Shopping Mall for lunch. After we figured out you had to buy card that you topped up with money, rather than pay where you got your meal we were right. By this time it was mid afternoon, so the plan was to shower and Peter would come and take us out for tea. The trick with the tuk tuk is you negotiate a price before getting in and you have to insist on "no stops" or to "go direct" but this would cost more because they would normally take you via several shops where they woild get kick backs for bringing you there. So eveeything is a negotiation. For tea we ended up on the other side of town near where Peter was staying at a street side place. Great fun, with hawkers trying to sell you a watch or laser all sorts of stuff. After tea we went shopping just around the corner at a street market. Peter bought a present for his new grand daughter. Then it was time for good byes. Peter was a very gracious host and would love for us to visit him at Pataya and we would love to come back next year, fingers crossed. Bangkok with Peter
