Day 9 Chiang Mai to Phuket

Chiang Mai to Phuket Up early for flight to Phuket, 7am start means no traffic, felt funny. Flight was good and the hosties felt sorry for me and I got moved up to the front of rhe plane. Another 2" of leg room made it much more comfortable. We had another couple with us from Strathbogie on the transfer and as it turned out thwy had bought the same package as us and were staying at Sunset Beach. So we got to see where we would have stayed. There was big seas and the water and sans had washed across the road right in front of rhe hotel. As we had already worked out it was no where near anything so we did well to change. When we got to Merlin Beach we soon realised how well we had done. Its beautiful! Our room is nice and big on the third floor overlooking one of the 3 pools. We took the 3 o'clock shuttle bus into Patong to do some shopping and have a meal. Its a truck with a body on the back but at least you get a seat. After Chiang Mai, Patong was really busy and dirty. We walked around for a coupe of hours, very hot and humid, then had some tea at an Aussie Bar. AFL was on so that was a bonus. Chang is now the beer of choice. Home in a taxi 300Bt
